How to Prepare

To prepare for your maternity session,  think about having your hair and makeup done and if you want it done, have a trial first. In terms of what to wear, try wearing a dress or skirt as the movement of these types of outfits is beautiful in photos and the fabric really wraps around the belly. If you are more comfortable in jeans and a top, by all means wear what makes you feel the most beautiful and comfortable. If you do want to bring an additional outfit, you can, just be sure to communicate that you want two looks.  Avoid maternity clothes that are big and baggy, all black, or any other clothing that hides your belly.

Newborns are the most sleepy in the first two weeks but can be photographed anytime! Jamie photographs baby as naturally as she can, meaning she does minimal posing. She likes to capture all the tiny little details of the baby as well as baby with the family. Her approach and style is simple and classic to really put the focus on the baby rather than gimmicky props or complicated poses, that can make it stressful for both the mother and the baby. Examples of her style can be seen on the portfolio tab. To prepare for your session try to give the baby a good long feeding just before leaving home.  That will get them good and sleepy!  We mostly work with newborns when they are naked or just in a diaper.  If you have sentimental outfits, blankets or objects however, please feel free to bring them to show to Jamie.
